We do not sell your personal data. We never have, and we never will.
This Privacy Policy explains how Bruxel Academy LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information from users of the investo. mobile application (“App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
When you create an account and use investo., we collect the following information:
- Account information: Your name, age, email address, and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
- Profile data: Username, avatar (a preset avatar or an optional uploaded photo, stored via Firebase Storage), XP points, level, completed lessons, and learning progress
- Usage data: Lessons viewed, quiz results, flashcard sessions (iOS), streak data, and in-app activity
- AI tutor questions: The text of questions you ask Mr. Investo, sent to Google Gemini (or Groq, only if Gemini is rate-limited) to generate a response
- Practice portfolio data: Your simulated trades, holdings, and returns in the practice-investing feature. This is entirely fictional — no real money, deposits, or withdrawals are ever involved
- Leaderboard data: Your display name and XP may be shown publicly to other users unless you turn this off in the app. Users under 13 always appear as “Anonymous” and cannot opt in to showing their name
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics
- Parent/guardian email (users under 13 only): Collected to deliver and confirm parental consent before an account is created — see Section 4
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and personalize your learning experience in the App
- Track your progress, XP, levels, and lesson completion
- Maintain your account and restore data across devices
- Improve the App through aggregated, anonymized analytics
- Send important account-related communications (not marketing spam)
- Provide customer support when you contact us
Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the App:
- Firebase (Google LLC): Authentication, cloud database (Firestore), file storage (avatar photos), and analytics. Firebase processes data on our behalf under Google’s data processing terms. Learn more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Gemini: The AI-tutor feature sends the text of your questions to Google’s Gemini API to generate a response. We do not attach personally identifying information to these requests.
- Groq: Used as a fallback for the AI tutor only when Gemini is rate-limited, under the same conditions as above.
- Resend: Delivers the parental-consent email when a user under 13 signs up. Resend receives the parent or guardian’s email address for this purpose only.
- Finnhub: Provides real market data (stock ticker symbols and prices) for the practice-investing feature. Finnhub receives ticker symbols only — no personal data.
There are no purchases anywhere in the App, so no payment processor is involved.
Children’s Privacy
investo. is built for users ages 8 to 18, and is useful at any age. We take children’s privacy seriously, and a user under 13 cannot create an account until a parent or guardian approves it. Here is exactly how that works:
- When a user under 13 signs up, we ask for a parent or guardian’s email address instead of creating the account immediately.
- We email that parent a notice describing exactly what is collected and why.
- The account is created only after the parent clicks through and confirms.
- If a consent request is not approved, it expires and is deleted after 7 days.
What we collect from a child under 13: name, age, email address, learning progress, and the text of any questions asked of the AI tutor (sent to Google Gemini, or Groq as a fallback). Children under 13 always appear as “Anonymous” on the public leaderboard — their name is never shown to other users, and they cannot opt in to showing it.
Parents may review or delete their child’s data, or withdraw consent, at any time by emailing investo.team@bruxelacademy.com. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without consent, contact us immediately at the same address and we will delete it promptly.
For users 13 and older, the app’s leaderboard may show your display name and XP publicly to other users; you can turn this off at any time in the app’s settings.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of non-essential communications

Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase’s built-in security rules, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Pricing
investo. is completely free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no paid tier of any kind. We do not collect or process any payment information, because there is nothing to pay for.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
